Letting Your Light Shine

In my online tribe we talk a lot about the Light – standing in the light, being the light, letting your light shine.  What does that really mean?  Why is it important?

Leonard Cohen sings in Anthem:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

If we let the light in, what happens?  The dark places recede.  The heaviness is diminished.  We start to smile again.  Light lifts our spirits.  The light is returning, the days are getting longer and spring fever is just around the corner.

It’s time for another change.  I’m re-organizing my website.  I modified my About page by breaking up the text, changing it up and lightening it up too.  Soon I’ll be adding a store and consolidating some of the categories.  I learned this week that my sales funnel is upside down.  I kind of feel like the characters in Signs who are sitting in the living room with aluminum hats on their heads so the aliens don’t get them.  I don’t have the perfect offering and I’m a little clueless on a lot of things.  But you know what?

This time I’ve been willing to let the light in.  I’ve asked for help and I’m getting answers.  I feel encouraged.  In spite of the fact that I’m in the “ARGH, stage 2” of business planning, I feel kind of giddy.  I know it’s going to be ok.  The sun is shining.  Better yet ,my own light is shining too.

Are you feeling shiny today?  What can you do to let your own light shine?

Totally there with you! I’ve been re-thinking and re-designing my business and site too. I’m glad that you got some clarity about your business. It’s dismaying to find your funnel’s upside down, but it’s wonderful to know you at least have a funnel to begin with!

Thanks for sharing a little bit of the challenges you’re in the middle of overcoming on your page. Made me step back and remember not to take myself so seriously.

I love your attitude! Keep on Honkin it through.

My friend Berta has a note posted: “Blessed are the cracked for they let in the light.” And tonight I went to meeting to share her 13th AA Birthday. She shines on those around her.

Gorgeous photo, Loran! I think most of what I do to let my light shine is writing-related, although I suspect there’s more to it than that if I dig below the surface.

Oh, and I just checked out your new About page too – LOVE it!

    Hi Loran,
I think you *do* have the perfect offering–you are magnifying light:) And when you allow that to infuse your creations, you are magnifying your creative process–”perfect”.

Thank you for those encouraging words, Joy. Light Magnification! I like that.
